Map of San-Yuan Star and its three great regions

San-Yuan Star

San-Yuan Star, also known as the Land of Manifestations, is where wonders take form.

San-Yuan Star, also known as the Land of Manifestations, is a world of diverse lands, civilizations, and forms of life. Its primary inhabitants are the Xiangling (roughly meaning “Manifested Souls”), whose outward forms reflect their inner selves.

The known world is divided into three great regions: Kan Continent, the Spring God Isles, and Tianshi Continent. Across these lands lie many nations and societies, each shaped by its own history, environment, and way of life.

Faith in the gods is deeply woven into life across the Land of Manifestations. Different regions honor different gods, shaping distinct traditions, values, arts, and cultures.

Examples of Xiangling forms

Xiangling

The predominant race of San-Yuan Star.

The Xiangling are the predominant inhabitants of San-Yuan Star. They possess humanoid bodies and distinctive outward Forms, known as Xiang (roughly meaning “manifested form”).

During childhood, a Xiangling's Form generally follows that of their parents. Around the age of eighteen, they undergo a process known as Xianxiang (roughly, “the emergence of one’s true Form”), during which their inherited childhood Form changes to reflect their inner self.

For example, a solitary Xiangling may manifest as a snow leopard, one with a fierce or commanding nature as a tiger, and one defined by courage as a lion. The same Form, however, may carry different meanings for different individuals.

During Xianxiang, a Xiangling's physical sex may also change to reflect their inner sense of gender. Like their Xiang, this is an outward expression of how they perceive and understand themselves.

Two Xiangling transformed by the Catastrophe, manifesting rose and computer Forms

The Catastrophe

A mysterious transformation that spread across the Xiangling and ultimately plunged San-Yuan Star into catastrophe.

The Catastrophe was a widespread crisis that began when a mysterious transformation suddenly appeared among the Xiangling. For the first time, Plant Forms and Object Forms began to emerge, producing individuals with Forms resembling roses, computers, and other previously unseen manifestations.

Those affected initially remained conscious and behaved normally, but over time many became increasingly unstable, eventually losing control and turning violent. Believing the condition to be a contagious disease, communities first responded with isolation and quarantine. As fear spread, however, some regions began organized hunts and killings of those who had transformed.

The true cause was not an infectious disease. An unknown mechanism was amplifying distorted desires buried within the Xiangling, causing those desires to manifest outwardly through their Forms and gradually overwhelm the individual.

Guizang

An ascetic group living beneath the Tianxu Mountains, devoted to seeking meaning beyond this life.

The Guizang are a secluded group living on the Guizang Plateau at the foot of the Tianxu Mountains. Dressed in black robes, they reject advanced technology and divine devices, choosing instead to live an austere and highly minimalist way of life.

The Guizang believe that mortal life is defined by suffering and has no inherent meaning. Rather than seeking fulfillment in this life, they devote themselves to a god, believing that through this devotion their lives may gain complete meaning and that the god will take responsibility for their existence in the life to come.

A collection of modular Prebuilt Houses from Land of Manifestations: Sanctuary

Prebuilt Houses

The primary form of housing across San-Yuan Star and the foundation of Sanctuary building.

Prebuilt Houses are modular residential units widely used across San-Yuan Star. Rather than being constructed on-site, they are manufactured in factories and transported by air as complete units to their destinations.

In Land of Manifestations: Sanctuary, players build in much the same way. Instead of placing individual floors and walls, they collect complete Prebuilt House modules and arrange, stack, and combine them like building blocks to create their own structures.

A Xiangling affected by Headless Form, with a transparent lens-like sphere in place of the head

Headless Form

A rare Xiang disorder linked to an unstable sense of self.

Headless Form is a rare Xiang-related disorder affecting fewer than one percent of Xiangling. After Xianxiang, those affected lose the physical structure of the head, which is replaced by a transparent, lens-like sphere that subtly distorts light and shifts in color with emotional changes.

The condition is often accompanied by abnormal bodily aura and unstable Qi fields. It is generally believed to result from an inability to clearly recognize or define one's own identity.
